Overview
The Pearl River PR-V02 1/8 Size Violin is a student violin designed for young beginners who require a smaller instrument that is easier to handle while developing their first violin skills.
Following the Stradivari violin model and traditional Cremona School construction principles, the PR-V02 features a European spruce top, maple back and sides, an ebony fingerboard and a carbon fibre tailpiece. Pearl River also uses European-sourced woods, traditional hand-made bridges and strings from established suppliers across its string-instrument range.
The 1/8 size makes the PR-V02 suitable for young children who are not yet ready for a larger fractional-size violin. It also comes with a protective case, wood bow and rosin, providing a practical setup for lessons and home practice.
Key Features
1/8 Size – A compact fractional size designed for young violin learners.
Stradivari-Inspired Model – Based on the Stradivari model within Pearl River's Cremona School-inspired approach.
European Spruce Top – Traditional spruce construction supporting the instrument's tonal response.
Maple Back & Sides – Classic maple construction for the violin body.
Ebony Fingerboard & Saddle – Durable traditional components designed for regular student use.
D'Addario Prelude Strings – Fitted with D'Addario Prelude strings from the USA.
Carbon Fibre Tailpiece – Lightweight and durable construction.
4 Fine Tuners – Allows easier and more precise tuning adjustments for young players.
Traditional Wood Components – Maple bridge, date-wood pegs and chin rest.
Starter Accessories Included – Protective case, wood bow and rosin
What the Product Offers
For a young child, the physical size of the violin matters. An appropriately sized instrument can make it easier to maintain a comfortable playing position while developing the basic movements needed for violin playing.
The PR-V02 1/8 supports early development of:
Proper playing posture
Left-hand positioning
Finger placement and coordination
Basic bow control
Intonation awareness
Rhythm and timing
Regular practice habits
The four fine tuners are also practical for beginners, making small pitch adjustments easier while the student and parent become familiar with violin tuning.
A Properly Sized Violin for a Young Beginner
For parents starting their child's violin journey, choosing the correct size is one of the first practical considerations. The Pearl River PR-V02 1/8 provides a smaller instrument that young players can manage more comfortably while retaining traditional violin construction.
The combination of European spruce, maple, ebony, D'Addario Prelude strings and a carbon fibre tailpiece gives this student violin a well-specified construction story beyond simply being a small-sized instrument.
