The Cristofori Grand Piano CG-1 is a compact baby grand piano measuring just 146 cm (4'10") in depth, designed to bring the presence and expressive character of a grand piano into spaces where a larger concert or salon grand may not be practical.
Part of the Cristofori Concert Series, the CG-1 combines a compact cabinet with carefully selected materials and components, including German strings, German hammers, a wet sand-cast iron frame, all-wood action mechanism and a full-solid soundboard. Its sound is designed around a clear, precise tonal character inspired by the legendary Ibach sound.
The CG-1 also incorporates a duplex scale system and a full-key sostenuto pedal, giving pianists additional control over resonance, sustain and musical expression.
Compact 146 cm Baby Grand – A grand piano format designed for more space-conscious environments.
Ibach-Inspired Sound – Developed to deliver clarity, depth and tonal precision inspired by the legendary Ibach sound.
Seasoned & Aged Wood – Soundboard and rim use carefully seasoned, aged wood intended to support resonance and tonal richness.
German Strings & Hammers – Premium German components selected for the piano's tonal response and playing characteristics.
Full-Solid Soundboard – Supports resonance and tonal development across the keyboard.
Wet Sand-Cast Iron Frame – Provides the structural foundation required for string tension and stability.
All-Wood Action Mechanism – Traditional acoustic action construction for responsive playing.
Duplex Scale System – Adds additional resonating string length to contribute to the piano's tonal character.
Full-Key Sostenuto Pedal – Allows selected notes to be sustained while subsequent notes can be played independently.
Compact Grand-Piano Footprint – Particularly relevant for homes, studios and performance spaces where floor space is a consideration.
The CG-1 is designed around the idea of bringing a genuine grand-piano experience into a compact footprint.
Its 146 cm depth makes it considerably shorter than many traditional grand pianos, while the acoustic grand-piano construction retains important elements such as a solid soundboard, cast-iron frame, traditional wooden action and three-pedal configuration.
For the pianist, the combination of German strings and hammers, duplex scaling and a full-key sostenuto pedal provides the tools needed for greater control over tone, sustain, dynamics and musical expression.
Grand piano character without requiring a grand-piano-sized room.
For customers who love the sound, presence and playing experience of a grand piano but are concerned about space, the CG-1 offers a practical alternative within the baby-grand category.
At 146 cm, the CG-1 has a compact depth while still incorporating traditional acoustic grand-piano construction. This makes it particularly relevant to Singapore homes, private studios and smaller performance spaces where every metre of floor space matters.
More importantly, the CG-1 is not positioned simply around its size. Its German strings, German hammers, full-solid soundboard, all-wood action, duplex scale and full-key sostenuto pedal give the pianist meaningful acoustic and expressive features to appreciate.
For customers considering an upgrade from an upright piano, the CG-1 can be presented as a step into the grand-piano format, while its compact dimensions help address one of the most common concerns about owning a grand piano: available space.
